transfer files between computers on a home network

I don't know why this is so hard to do but I would like to transfer files between a desktop PC running windows 10 pro and a laptop running windows 10 home. I would like to transfer files in both directions. Both computers are on the same home network and are connected wirelessly.

Could some one provide either specific step by step instructions on how to do this (I googled and found a countless list of instructions that don't work)

or a link to a reference.

    Thanks,

I don't know if this is possible but it would be nice to see the computer sending the desired file in the explorer file manager of the computer receiving the desired file and then under the computer see a list
    of shared files and folders.

Again, this seems like such a reasonable way of sharing files and folders. Shouldn't there be a simple way to do this?

What sort of files how big. You can setup shares and do it that way but a very simple way is to use OneDrive or Google drive you sign in to the drive with same account on both PC's and save files you want to share to the drive folder and as if by magic they will be on the other pc.

doesn't quite do what I'm looking for. How do you get the localhost of one computer to display in file explorer on the other computer?

Thanks, but those don’t do what I’m looking for. Why is this so difficult? I simply want the shared files and folders to appear in the other computer when using file explorer. Something like the sending computer name and then the directory structure of what’s been shared.

The problem is a lot of folders you dont have access to even locally thats why you share folders the drives are shared by default with a $ ie c$ which you can connect to the drive but you wont be able yo access a lot of folders and you must provide an admin passord. You wont be able to get to other users profile like documents

I went a different way, use 2 WDC NAS drives plugged into my Router and Map the Public Folder on them. Then I dump copies of files or downloads I may want on other computers in appropriate Folders then any computer I Map that Public Folder on gives me access. I seldom need direct editing access to the files as suitable programs may not be installed on every computer. A bonus feature is that only the Router has to remain powered on along with the NAS drives, individual computers can be turned off when not needed.
