    K. So this is what I have in my network:
    - HubPC: central desktop with the files to share
    - Laptop 1: no files to share
    - Laptop 2: no files to share

HubPC can see both Laptops, neither of which have files to share. Ok with this.
Laptop 1 can now see HubPC and can access the shared files there. Great! It can also see Laptop 2.
Laptop 2 can see Laptop 1. It can't see HubPC, which has files to share. This is the outstanding problem at the moment.

I confirmed that HubPC is the Master Browser. Thanks for that app!

    What's next??
Just a note on the tutorial. Option #1, step #3 is important. Verify these 2 services are set on all machines.

    3. Make sure the Function Discovery Resource Publication and Function Discovery Provider Host services are started (running) and their startup type is set to automatic.

Haven't tried mapping a drive yet, but I can ping it by IP and by name. Login accounts are different.

Yup - I got this right on all machines.

    - Is there a truly effective procedure for setting up Win10 to see other machines and to share files? If so, please point me in that direction.

    Thanks!

I have posted this in a few threads. Can't Get Windows 10 File Sharing To Work Reliably Solved - Windows 10 Forums

The thing that I did not mention but was mentioned by others is if you take my advice you need to set the pc's to have a static ip address or reserve the ips in your router if possible.

And as I have mentioned in my other posts, you should not have to do this but if you want to get on with other things until MS actually fixes the problem this works.

    Kah,
Thanks for that advice. Interestingly, I had reviewed that thread prior to posting this one. The thread doesn't seem to make a convincing case for static IPs, as the OP seems to still have problems - if I read it right.

    Samuria,
I'll try that. My Holiday schedule is limiting my time to attend to this.

Yesterday, a massive Win10 update on my HubPC threw everything into chaos. As of this AM however, things are working to the level that they were the other day. Success viewing/sharing between HubPC and one laptop. Still need to work on the other.

Thanks again for this advice and I'll report back.
