    What's happening to my wifi?

Each time I come to the computer after a break (no matter how brief) I can't access internet although the wifi icon shows connection.
So I have to disconnect and then re-connect.

Have no idea how to investigate but very interested in finding a solution.

Device Manager, Network Adapter, right click Properties, Power Management.
    Maybe that helps.

    Hi PiKo,
last part ... viz Power Management doesn't show after Properties is selected.

Click Start, Settings, System, Power & Sleep section. Or type Power & Sleep in the Search box, click the result.

    Thx Berton,

not sure what I do when I have the Power & Sleep option open (I lengthened the time to sleep when on power).

Your Gateway is most likely losing its lease for the IP for the device. Change the lease time in the Gateway for wifi and see if that helps.

    Hello bro67,
glad yr enjoying being retired from the grind! (me too)

Yr comment is interesting and possibly helpful if only I knew what the terms meant.
I have no idea of how to change the lease on the gateway (now that I've learned there's such a thing :)

The lease for a IP on your Router/Gateway can be set from 1 day to 1 week. Some devices go into a Green Mode and forget those connections that may already be assigned an IP and want that same IP back that is associated with the MAC of the NIC. It would be under Wifi Settings on your Router/Gateway.
