    No wifi on my laptop?

I've had this problem a few months ago, and now it's doing it again. Last time it fixed itself, but I don't know how.

The wifi on all my devices in the house are working, except for my laptop. I've tried turning the modem off an on (twice), I've restarted my laptop multiple times, but to no avail. It shows other available wifi networks that are close by (neighbours), but not mine. Sometimes it doesn't show any at all. I've tried troubleshooting, nothing. Even my tech savy father couldn't figure it out!

Welcome to TenForums Alienbicc. If you take a minute to fill out your system specs in your profile, we will have more to go on and can help you sort out the problem. Computer model, ram, network adapter, router, etc.

Also, what's the relationship of the Router to the Computer, what is between them? Have seen where a kitchen in a motel's office/apartment blocked 3 rooms across the hall from accessing the Router and simply moving to the front lobby got a very good signal. Older houses can be an issue with the possibility of lead-based paint, some even new with the foil-backed insulation batts in the walls.

The router is in the room next to mine, and the wall is pretty thin. I've tried moving my laptop into the room and put it right next to the router, and nothing happened.

I've also discovered that my Bluetooth isn't working. While trying to import a photo from my laptop to my phone via Bluetooth, it comes up with an error message like "windows was unable to transfer". My gmail sync is also experiencing problems on my phone.

On most Notebooks and some Desktops Bluetooth Wireless is part of the Wireless/Wi-Fi adapter so if one function has failed usually the other has also failed. But I have seen where Bluetooth failed but the Wireless did not. Most Notebooks have a switch or an Fn + other key for turning the adapter On or Off.

Both the Wireless and Bluetooth adapters are available as separate small USB dongles when the built-in has failed.

I like and use Bluetooth mice with my Notebooks as I don't have to worry about unplugging the USB part used with Wireless mice, saves a USB port from damage if bumped.
