    Passwords for network folder access

After Windows installed 1803, I lost all networked folders.

I have three PCs on my home wi-fi network:-

    PC A - Windows 7 Pro
    PC B - Windows 7 Pro
    PC C - Windows 10 Pro

I could access all shared folders on all 3 PCs before the 1803 upgrade.

Then PC C disappeared. I've managed to get it visible again on PC A and B, but can't find the correct usernames and passwords to use on PC A and B.

I've spent best part of yesterday and today searching the internet, but no success.

When setting up PC C there was confusion about a Microsoft Account, which I have only on PC 3, but don't want. So I use four digit PIN when visual access fails - low light or glasses not being worn!

My wife is also on the network and she could by misstake access folders. It would be nice if only I could access networked folders.

I am the only account on all my computers, as administrator.

    Any suggestions, please.

    Thanks for your reply.

PC C - Windows 10 Pro is the problem machine.

It has only one user - me the admin. This computer does not have a password as in place of the typical username and password, as I use here on Windows 7 Pro, it uses Windows Hello or a four digit PIN.

I've had a look at the complex requirements given in the link and I've never used another computer's disk drive as a 'networked drive' with a drive letter.

So on this PC, I have folders such as: C:\folder1

and all folders on network connected PC's such as:
    \\Cf-31\folder1 and \\Surface-4a\folder1

I use ViceVersa Pro as my main backup program. It holds 'Profiles' of different sets of backups and uses this style of folder pathname. So I can look at what was used prior to Windows 10 Pro 1803 update.

I get the impression that Microsoft have changed how PCs are seen on a network, so that Windows 10 computers can no longer be used with previous versions of Windows on a network.

I've just switched on an old HP Stream 7 Tablet that I upgraded to Windows 10 Pro sometime ago. It can still access PC C (Surface Pro 4). Folders are seen as \\Surface-4a\folder1 and files can be opened and used. It also uses Windows Hello or a four digit PIN. This tends to support my suggestion made in the last paragraph.

I've now done some more research. Recently I bought a secondhand Panasonic Toughbook CF-52 for a new activity. I setup the basics and put it aside. Today, after the previous posting to this thread, I started to setup folder sharing on it. It has version 1709

I'd previously setup a PIN for access as there is no camera. Today I selected, Sign-in options at the beginning and then selected a key icon. This allowed me to select 'User', the account setup by the selling company, when they setup the computer OS as a new install. I was then able to enter a first time password.

Using this user and password, I can access folders and files that I've just added sharing to, on a Windows 7 PC. So back to PC - C and do the same. But the key icon does not exist!
