Windows fails to initilize wifi adapter on wake-up

Windows connects properly to wifi on bootup, but if I go into sleep mode, on wake-up the wifi does not reconnect automatically to wifi. To reconnect, I have to manually disable the adapter, then enable it. I'm running version 1803 64 bit. Can anyone explain/help? Thanks.

I had that problem some time back, in version 1607 or 1511 as I recall. The fix then was to go into Device Manager and on the Power Management tab for the WiFi adapter tick the box for 'Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power'.

Now that might sound counter-intuitive, but it seemed to remind the system it had an adapter that needed waking up after resuming from sleep or hibernation.

Thanks for the suggestion. Unfortunately, the "Allow ... save power" box was already checked. I tried unchecking OK rechecking OK, but that didn't fix the problem.

I've had this problem in every version and have always had to connect or reconnect manually from either sleep or shutdown. This tip seems to have has fixed it.
