    Question about Cat5E cable


    Hi all



    I have two cat5E cables one of them works on all three devices I have laptop, PS3, and streaming Box.

    The other one works on laptop only. What are the reason that the other cable doesn't work on PS3 and streaming box.

    Possible bad cable. You can get a tester that allows you to loopback test Ethernet cables.

    You may have a crossover cable. This is a cable with special wiring designed for direct connections between 2 similar devices, such as 2 computers. Most modern devices can use standard and crossover cables interchangeably. But with your PS3 and streaming box, maybe not.

    That is what I was thinking, you can test it with an OHM Meter for continuity.

    Thanks, it's not crossover one of the sides had a cut in one of the wires and I just redid it.
