Sorry typo, meant to write that I did the renew and then the speed test.
The prior IPCONFIG was from the Desktop and this one is from the Laptop

Again, post the speedtest for just the wifi and then the ethernet in a post, not as an attachment. Because attachments can carry viri, people like myself do not download them to just look at. Easier to just post the info in a post, instead of the attachment.
I will try to figure how to do that with those instructions. But at 80, I may find that to be hard to do.
Has there been any thought as to how I can get my Laptop to use the Ethernet cable to get to use the cable speed and not to continue at WiFi. Without the cable, I get the same speeds even when the cable is used. So is there a fix that even I can understand how to use?
What were you doing the speed test with? If you were doing something like speedtest.net, and you have a high quality WiFi connection, then you likely won't see a difference in speed between WiFi and Ethernet. An internet speed test like speedtest.net is not testing your local network speed. It is testing the speed of your internet connection - outside your local network. With a fairly high quality WiFi connection and definitely with an Ethernet connection, your local network connection to the router will be many times faster than your typical internet connection provided by your ISP.
Simplest solution is to just disable the WiFi while using the Ethernet cable.

Went to the Tutorial and it worked without issue on my Desktop. Turned on my Laptop, Dell Inspiron 17, 5000 series. Checked the speed of WiFi, turned WiFi off, connected cable and internet speed was the same. Checked the cable at the router and it was on, took that cable from another Desktop top which was working at my regular internet speed and connected to Laptop. Same results as before with the Laptop.
Is there a settings I must change within the Laptrop or what shall I do to make this work?.
If your cable speed from your ISP is greater than 100Mbps, the reason you can't get any faster using Ethernet is because that laptop only has a 10/100 Mbps Ethernet port,

My normal speed at the Desktop is normally greater than 100. My Laptop cable connection distance is 13 ft. and the speed is less than half of my Desktop. The WiFi is slightly faster on the laptop.
Last question, if I move a cable within 8 ft from the router, would that give faster speed to my Laptop?
