Same laptop, different users, vastly different internet speeds.

I don't have screenshots of my task manager or anything yet and my Google searches have been fruitless for this issue.

What's happening is when I'm logged into my profile and I do a speed test my download is around the 30-50 Mbps and my upload is around 8 Mbps. When I log out and switch to my son's account the download is 250-290 Mbps and upload is around 12 Mbps. If both are logged in mine drags his down too. Obviously it's something in mine, but I'm pulling my hair out trying to figure it out.

Looking through task manager I'm not seeing a vast difference in any of the processes, performance or network items running between the 2 accounts. Anyone here have any suggestions. I'm on mobile right now.

Probably something to do with bandwidth on yours since yours is the Admin account. you can try adjusting it in Settings, Delivery Optimization, Advanced Option.
Those speed test to me are a joke, they dont actually use the server your on, they find one with less traffic.
I did it one time and it came up saying hold on let us find a better server,, now I live in North Texas,, the server they chose to test with was 400 miles away, Near Houston.

Thanks for your input. I do agree about the speed tests, I'm using them as a gauge and it's been pretty consistent. I've adjusted the settings in delivery options and it brought my speeds up, but it's still way below what it should be. I've got limit background bandwidth down to 5%, I've set limit how much bandwidth is used for downloading updates to 5%, 50% and 100%. I have even restarted my computer after (just in case) and it has not helped. When I go to look at what is using my bandwidth it's windows system at 73 GB, even chrome, which I use a lot, only used 18.17 GB. The other app is called "Agent" it had used the second highest bandwidth at 21.24 GB that is an app from blizzard entertainment.

I'm at a loss as to why my speeds are so slow comparatively.

When my son downloaded Forza 4 yesterday it downloaded at 220 mbps. My download of World of tanks is download is 2 MBps (16 mbps). Somethings not right.

I feel your pain. You might as well get a dial up modem. You might have faster speeds.

Might as well be dial up, this is a cell phone, it using 3G network which is slower than using 4G. AT&T hasn't bothered to upgrade their cell towers out here. People using their cell phones for internet use, connects to either Centurylink or Suddenlink.

Is that your only option out there? Damn! How do you folks get anything done (net wise)

Those that require internet uses Centurylink, some use Suddenlink.
Myself, I dont require internet for net wising.
Knowledge I use this library card because as they say, don't believe what is out there on the internet.
