    Miracast Support ?

I was trying to see if my PC can use Miracast without using a Miracast Adapter.

My Sony Bravia TV shows it supports Miracast.

My PC i am not sure if it does one section on DxDiag does the other by Display shows it does not.
Is it the Graphics card or Display ? Driver is the newest.

When i try to connect i get this

    or Project

I do not have a WiFi card inside the PC, built into motherboard Intel Ethernet Connection 1218-V ProSet connected to a modem router from the cable company with WiFi (if i explained that part right) it is 2 parts to the equipment. The Intel Ethernet has the latest drivers installed as does the rest of the PC.

Can this work with or without using a Miracast Adapter ?

As far as i know you have to have wifi in order for MiraCast to work,
however i did recommend this to another member, not sure if sakau2007 ever tried it but should work :)

    Hi sakau2007

Without buying new hardware you could try Reflector 3 it might work.
( the free version have watermark tho )
I used AirParrot 2 before but that's if you wanna cast ur win desktop to apple tv

But if you don't mind spendning abit of money on new hardware i recommend Steam Link
It can do everything your asking for, you just need to have steam running on ur pc.
You can either limit steam link to only cast your steam library or you can mirror your entire desktop.

I managed to get my steam link for around 35$

That works fine with my TV and Blu ray Player, thanks ! Not sure if i have this correct using my TV or Blu ray Player, screen mirroring option is the right choice using Miracast ? For one this disables WiFi connection at the time to either TV or Player.

    Other things i have tried.....

The TV WiFi Direct Settings shows please connect from your WiFi Device.
For details, please refer to the manual of your WiFi device. Says if you can not connect, press options and select manual. Options Menu has manual, Show Device list /Delete and Register Notification

Selecting manual has 2 choices WPS (push button) on the router and wait within 2 minutes, but does not register, other method is

Please enter the WPA Key for your device, shown on the TV screen is also the WPA key for the TV along with SSID: DDIRECT-ek-BRAVIA.
At the bottom of this screen it say Press ENTER if you want to register using WPS (pin).

This has to be the same pin i use to setup the internet access to the TV and Blu Ray Player in the past they are both connected using this key but does not work in this situation.

The WiFi adapter has to be on the computer itself.

    Miracast | Wi-Fi Alliance

"Miracast allows users to wirelessly share multimedia, including high-resolution pictures and high-definition (HD) video content between Wi-Fi devices, even if a Wi-Fi network is not available."

Without a WiFi adapter, your desktop computer is not a "Wi-Fi device". It is a wired Ethernet device connected to a router.

Thanks for clearing that up !!

WiFi adapter meaning a WiFi card ? How would i get my Service providers ( internet access ) to work with a WiFi card ? I Now have a Modem with coaxial cable coming in attached to router then to Ethernet connection on my Intel Ethernet Connection 1218-V built in on motherboard. Would i still need both cable TV equipment and WiFi card ?

WiFi Alliance states, If streaming content from the internet, a network connection is required which i would like to do also.

Not going to try other methods yet, but have been looking at other ways and will keeps yours in mind. Not using any Apple Devices at the moment, PC and Sony Bravia TV.
