    Erratic Wireless since Oct upgrade

My laptop keep dropping wifi since the latest upgrade. Lasts about 5 minutes then switches off. Then on and off every few minutes Win 10 pro.

It connects and holds secure, connections to my tethered mobile connection. My phone holds wifi signal from my router, so the router is fine.

Anyone experience similar recent drop outs? Any solutions? if not how do I go back to previous Win 10 variety.

    Hi carrotmuseum

I would find the original driver for your laptop at Asus and install that.

Note the current driver version installed so that when you apply the one from Asus you know it has taken.

If that stabilizes connection tell Windows to lay off the driver updates. Option 4 this tutorial

Enable or Disable Driver Updates in Windows Update in Windows 10

also store Asus driver in safe place, every Feature update you will need.

As well, for either driver used, open device manager, find adapter, right click, then properties, then Power mgmt tab, remove check mark that allows computer to shut off device to save power.

To fall back Start > Settings > Update & Security > Recovery. Think you have to do this within 10 days.

Before falling back please ensure all personal data is backed up off device.

    Stuff happens !!

    Solved - sort of

Thanks for all that. It's my old Acer One, not the Asus, but all advice still applies.

Rolled back to previous Windows 10 and it got better for about half a day then issue back again! old driver made no difference.

Finally cured it by using an old USB network adapter I had kicking around from Win Xp days!! That worked like a dream, and much faster and stable. So I am guessing it's a faulty adapter in the laptop, probably found wanting my Win 10 "upgrade".

Thanks for the help. Back to real work.
