Asus N55SL w/ Intel Centrino N1030 WLAN/Bluetooth - no share tab

I have an Asus N55SL laptop running the October 2018 Windows 10 build (fresh install). Bluetooth is provided by the N1030 WiFi adapter built-in. The only drivers available for it are via Win10 inboxing.

Unfortunately the drivers do not provide the functionality I enjoy on my desktop Bluetooth experience because the share tab is missing from Bluetooth Settings.

The final two tabs are missing in the same settings window on my laptop though (I left my laptop at work so can't provide a screenshot)

This means I need to manually engage "Receive a file" on the laptop before sending the file which is pretty annoying when I'm used to being able to send and forget to my desktop.

I checked the available Bluetooth Services for my phone on the laptop in Devices and Printers and made sure they were all enabled but I can't recall seeing any entry with "Obex" in it which is what I believe is the required service for fuss-free file transferring.

Also, manually adding a port for my phone on the laptop in the Com tab (see above) did nothing.

As an aside, if I have the Devices window open when attempting to send a file I can see the device state changes from "Paired" to "Connecting" briefly so it definitely seems like the issue is that the driver doesn't support the correct service.

Does anyone know of a workaround? Are there open source/alternative drivers available? I believe the Windows 8.1 drivers for the device are also inboxed

I managed to install the win 8.1 version of the driver which did bring up the Share folder (named Shared folder)



but despite this transfers fail even when I initiate a transfer using fsquirt.

I've checked available services and there's no obex entry
