    Netgear Readyshare

I was having a problem keeping a wireless connection to the \\readyshare on a desktop that originally had a direct connection. I deleted the HDD from the router so I could start from scratch and now I can't connect to \\readyshare with any of my computers including my laptop that never had a problem. I have check all the settings that are suggested on other post on this forum. File Sharing is set, SMB 1.0 is turned on and the 2 Funtion Sharings are set to Auto. I can access the router in file explorer. Every time I try connecting I get the error that \\readyshare can't be found. Is there another setting I can try or is the problem with my router? This has been a bad week for me. The other day my main desktop died and I'm trying to setup my old desktop which is how I found out that \\readyshare can't be accessed.

    Hey Winuser,
You said you deleted the HDD from the router, did you go back and setup ReadyShare in your router ???

Yes. I also used the remove USB device, unplugged the HDD and reset the router before plugging in the HDD. In the router settings page Ready Share say's it's ready. With my luck it's the router.

    k, I believe it's \\routername\readyshare.
    Example:
For me its \\EAGLE-NGR\ShareDrive or \\192.168.1.1\ShareDrive

Note: I renamed my router to EAGLE-NGR and ReadyShare to ShareDrive

BTW ... What model is your NetGear Router

    It's the Netgear Nighthawk AC1900 model R7000. I tried \\NETGEAR89\readyshare and it didn't work.

    k ...
    1. In the router advanced settings > usb storage > readyshare what are you using for Read/Write Access .. Admin or All-No Password ???
    2. I'm guessing you've tried by ip addess (i.e. \\192.168.1.1\readyshare) ???

    EDIT:
FWIW ... this is my advanced settings > usb storage > readyshare

It's set to no password. I just tried \\192.1.168.1.1 and it still wont connect. Tomorrow I'm going to try my old Windows 7 laptop and see if that connects. Readyshare use to setup so easy in the past. My laptop never had a problem until I tried setting up readyshare from scratch.

This is a real long shot and I haven't seen it with the newer NetGear Routers (i.e. AC1750, AC1900, etc) ... only on older NetGear Routers !!!

I wouldn't do this except as a last resort ....
I've seen where the \\readyshare wouldn't show up on the network or be accessible when the USB HDD had only 1 NTFS partition ... for whatever reason, it had to aslo have 1 FAT32 partition. I've also seen where, once you had 1 FAT32 partition and it showed up and worked on the network ... you could go back and get rid of the FAT32 partition ... so you were back to 1 NTFS partition and it would still work.

I'll try that tomorrow. Tonight I'm going to remove the HDD again and try with a flash drive. It's getting late and I have to get up early in the morning. What I don't understand is that it use to be easy to setup readydrive.
