Wifi is very degraded on one comp and a PS4, ok on new device

I have a computer running Windows 10 upgrade and a PS4 that are attached to a wifi router. I am getting a down load speed of aprox 1-1.4 Mbps down and 10 Mbps up. An other computer that connects to the same router is working great with almost 100 Mbps down.

I know longer know the required stuff that has to be set up on the adaptor. Could it be something as simple as missing a service or something?

Any thoughts or suggestions encouraged and appreciated.

Hi Cremaster. Welcome to the TenForums @Cremaster

Could you tell us about your router, is it dual band, (2.4Ghz and 5Ghz)? How old is it?

Are you using the same band when you test?

Are you at the same distance? ( same location )

2.Ghz band is not as fast as the 5Ghz but gets better performance at a distance.

Placement of device also plays into equation as radios can be influence by noise (electrical interference). Is your console in the open, not beside power bricks / wires or other sources interference. Same for older computer.

I had a Netgear router and the 2.4Ghz band failed, not to the point of not working but the speed was awful. At the same time the 5Ghz band was chugging along fine.

You have your maths wrong. If you only get 2 meg download the other PC isn't getting 100 meg that is it's connection to the router not internet. If you only get 2 meg you have to divide it by 2 PC's so you will get less that 1 meg which is crazy I get 80 on my mobile phone. What do you pay for run a speed test and post results

    Not following.

PC are connected wirelessly. If OP is at the outer range of his router it will impact speed, won't it?

Per my original post, "An other computer that connects to the same router is working great with almost 100 Mbps down."

Here are results I just ran:
Download Speed 24.47 Mbps (3058.8 KB/sec transfer rate)
Upload Speed 10.31 Mbps (1288.8 KB/sec transfer rate)
    Latency 34 ms

It doesn't seem to be location as I have moved the computer that connects well and the one that doesn't to the same area.

I also am getting great connection speeds with my phone. It seems to not be related to the wifi router but to the conection between the wifi and the two devices.

New info: I took the affected computer out of town last week and it puked the connection at where I was staying.

You didn't tell us about router or whether it is dual band.

Newer devices come with AC radios, certainly your phone could connect on the 5Ghz band.

I saw comment that computer had issues out of town but that does not explain PS4.

Yes dual band but I only think the slower one was ever hooked up.

I think it must be the adapter. Can I just rebuild it??????

There is nothing to rebuild in adapter.

You can run trouble shooter which will uninstall and then re-install.

Start > Settings > Update and Security > Troubleshoot > Network adapter (on right)

I would identify your bands coming from your router. Likely use your phone as it will have the best radios. You should see both. If they both have same name you change so one says something like Home24 and Home5

They can and likely do have same password. Then you can control. PS4 I would think could connect to 5 and you should see better performance.

For both devices enter advance power management options and under Wireless adapter set to max performance.

Right Click Start > Power Options > Additional Power Settings (on Right) > Change Plan Settings (beside plan in use) > Change Advance Power Settings > Window Opens, click on required heading
