MpCmdRun.exe High Bandwidth
Can anyone help me with the problem of MpCmdRun.exe using almost all bandwidth to the point of stopping all other connections?

Hi there.
MpCmdRun.exe is the process associated with Windows Defender. You can see if it is doing any work by right clicking on the taskbar, selecting task manager then click on the performance tab. For detailed information about what is happening with your system you can click on the open Resource Monitor link at the bottom. While in Resource Monitor, click on the disk section which will show you real time info. You should see MpCmdRun appear and it'l tell you what files it is accessing.
When was the last time you ran a manual scan with Defender?

To be honest, I can't remember whether it was just before or just after the issue. However, I have now radically increased my broadband speed, so it may not be a problem in future. Should have thought of this before I posted it.
Will keep you updated if there is a continuing problem.
