My Windows 10 laptop is stuck on "airplane mode". It won't turn off.

For some reason, my Windows 10 laptop is stuck in "airplane mode". It won't turn off in settings -- the on/off switch is grayed, suggesting that it is inoperative (I guess). Please help, someone!

Can you turn on your Wifi while in Airplane mode or does this also not work?

Hello Cam, and welcome to Ten Forums.

Check to see if your keyboard may have an Airplane mode/wireless key that toggles it on/off. This keyboard key can override what you have in Settings when turned on.

Sometimes you may need to also use the Fn key (if available) with this key on some keyboards.

Thanks to all who sent me this tip. I tried it and it doesn't work on my computer. Apparently, that's not the problem.

I can't get on-line from that machine, a Dell Inspiron with Windows 10.. I'm using an older laptop (Windows 7) to read and post on this forum.

Try going into device manager; first make sure the network device is working properly (ie. no yellow exclamation mark is shown); if it is showing as working, then on the properties page of the wireless network device make sure "Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power" setting is off. If that doesn't work uninstall and reinstall the wireless device.
