    Combine 2 Internet Connections

Not sure if that's even something to ask here but I'll try anyway.

Since my current cable connection is still paid for the next couple of months and my new fiber access is already activated I wondered if I can combine those 2 accesses to be one under Windows 10.

I know I could do it through a load balancing router but mine doesn't do it.

Also, mine has only one WAN port and I wondered if I can connect the other internet access to one of the LAN ports? If so, how does Windows know this isn't just another LAN device but rather another WAN router with internet access?

If they both connect via wan port you cant use them both at once without 2 routers/modems

Sure? My firmware on the Netgear router allows to repurpose one of the LAN ports to be another WAN port.

"Dual WAN works in two modes. “Failover” means using one of the connections, and when it’s down, switch to the other one. “Load balancing” means use both of the connections, specifying a load ratio that should correspond to the ratio of the channels’ bandwidth."

The load balancing sounds a lot like what I want, no?

Also, I cant find it anymore but I am sure I read, that can be done within Windows (some IP4 config thing) even without the router if you have 2 network adapters in your box and feed 2 different internet connections into them....

If your router doesn't have 2 wan ports, then you would need a machine with 2 network cards to be able to configure it for load balancing. Have a look here, this may be what you're looking for.

Thanks but that seems to refer to SMB LAN transfer only.

So now I know the difference between load-balancing and bonding. Never mind my question, I could use a physical separate load-balancer, my 2 network cards or flash my router with a DD-WRT or Shibby Tomato firmware to repurpose one of the LAN ports to be my second WAN port. But it’s all too much of a hassle to be honest.
