As long as ipconfig is showing the correct info that you entered, then obviously something else is going on ... what exactly I'm not sure

    Can't hurt :)

Have you tried rebooting the router (turn it off for 30 sec, the turn it back on) ???

Without being able to get into router and check it's settings, you're kinda of working blind. I don't think there is anything wrong with your PC and/or WiFi Adapter at this point. You might check and see if there is an updated driver for you WiFi Adapter. Check the PC and/or the WiFi Adapter manufactures sites for the driver.

Note: I'm NOT recommending this ... just an FYI ... I would only do it as a last resort !!!
    1. You could reset the router to it's default settings (check the router manufacturers site for a howto)
    2. Be Warned ... This will wipe out any custom settings that your roomy setup, reset the user/password to default, etc and without knowing the custom settings .... there is no way to know how it will affect others connected to router.
To be honest with you from the very beginning I was believing that someone caused this to me, and not my laptop. When I will have my day off I will request the User-name and the Password of the Router, No one was set in charge of the Internet in this house, or at least I have never been notified about something like that. So, why should anyone remove the default, factory, automatic, settings and set their own moronic settings which does not work for everyone, apparently!

    Hmmm....OK...we will see....

PS: no, I have not reset the router. No time. On my day off I will start from there,,,
PS1: my laptop is fully updated, both from MS and from HP

There are valid reasons to create custom settings, like using Static IPs, Port Forwarding, etc ...

I'm sure you mean reboot and not reset, there is a big difference per my previous post :)

Good Luck ... Hope you get this sorted out.

    Excuse me, what??!!

I missed your post because I am on and off, connecting via my smartphone. They have blocked my access to the Internet, you say?! They have NO right to do this! How have you arrived to this conclusion? Can you help me prove it? How have you concluded this?

On my day off I will go to a cafe and test my Wi-Fi Adapter. I strongly believe that it's working perfectly but I will do it anyway. When you say "the other party" you mean my roommates?!

    Please clarify!

    Thank you
I did not stutter. If the person controlling the Internet sets Static IP's for machines that connect to the network and has blocked your computer from connecting or changed what IP's are allowed and not allowed. There is zero you can do on your machine to resolve anything. This is a person issue, not a computer or network issue. They have every right to block anyone if they do not charge that party to connect to the network or have it written down in a lease agreement with you, that you are paying for Internet as a part of your lease agreement. The Cafe may be your only choice for getting online at this point.

    Hello again,

No resolution to this matter. Tomorrow, afternoon, I will visit a cafe with Wi-Fi and check my laptop. I am 99% sure my laptop has no problem connecting to a Wi-Fi spot. In the rare case it will be broken I'll purchase a USB Wi-Fi adapter immediately.

I asked the UserName and Password to access the Router's web interface. I was denied it with the excuse that I might brake something... No problem. After reassuring my laptop is OK, I will e-mail the real estate agency who rented me the place and report my problem. By the way, bro67, nowhere in my letting contract does it say that a person is in charge for the Internet connection in this house, that one has the right to set up things manually or that one tenant can be cut off the Net. Oh, and I have asked, why the Manual Settings and why not leaving everything at Default, which usually works, and she said that it was not working at Default... Well, it surely worked great before she moved in!...

Anyway, just a couple of questions, to learn something new from all this:

    1) How come and my smartphone never had / has any issue connecting to the Wi-Fi? No manual settings on it

    2) So, the ONLY way, indeed, to check a Wi-Fi adapter on a laptop is to visit some place and try to connect? No other way, not a single test?

It is not a computer issue, the person who has access to the Internet Gateway is the one who has locked you out from using it. I doubt that the "Real Estate Agency" will not be able to resolve anything, if the person telling you that you cannot have access to the Administrator settings on the Gateway is telling you no.

Good question ... I guess you could try 1 or 2 ... you shouldn't need to do both, but that's up to you.
    1. Setup your phone WiFi settings to match the WiFi settings on your laptop. (i.e. IP, Gateway, DNS servers, etc)
    2. See what the WiFi settings on your phone are and change your laptop WiFi Adapter settings to match. (i.e. IP, Gateway, DNS servers, etc)

    2) So, the ONLY way, indeed, to check a Wi-Fi adapter on a laptop is to visit some place and try to connect? No other way, not a single test?
Nope ... no other way that I know of to test things ... You need another network to connect to and see if the issue persists. This is your best way to rule out any issues with your PC and/or WiFi Adapter.

    Thanks for your replies, guys

On my smartphone, Huawei Honor 9, the only values I was able to find are:

    IP address: 192.168.1.14
Mac address: random numbers and letters
    No DNS values anywhere.

I had a small chat with the other roommates, not the "Guru" in charge, and I have discovered that both of them have Mac book laptops. One of them said she dual boots with Windows 10 and whereas on the Apple OS she never faces any connection issues, on Windows her Mac book presents problems with the Wi-Fi connection.

The real estate agency is obliged to provide Internet access to me, as well, because I am paying for it. So, they can force that person to restore the router on its default, factory, settings, something I am 99% sure it will fix my problem or the agency can send a Internet technician to verify and certify the whole situation.

    Hey Joanne,
You should edit your post (#17) and remove your phones MAC Address.

Hopefully, there is light at the end of the tunnel with this issue :)
