Password Protected Sharing gets turned on after Win Updates?

I've been dealing with a pesky little problem for some time and think I have discovered the source of the problem.

I have a fairly extensive home network which includes my Win 10 Pro desktop, a Win 7 desktop and a Win 10 Home laptop. On a fairly regular basis, I am unable to access the Win 10 Pro desktop from the other computers. I am asked for a user name and password. The Win 10 Pro computer doesn't have a password assigned so it can't be accessed. I have found that "Password Protected Sharing" has been turned on in the "All Networks" section of the Network settings. When I disable "Password Protected Sharing", everything returns to normal. However, sometime later (maybe a month or so) the problem returns.

The only thing that I can rationalize causing this problem are the MS monthly updates.

Has anyone else encountered this problem and/or solved it?

Yes, it's just something you have to watch out for. The upgrades will invariably reset the network to its defaults. SOME cumulative (monthly/semi-monthly) updates will do it, too. So you should check after each upgrade and cumulative update and take corrective action, if called for.
