network tab only shows media devices and net work Infrastructure

    Hi,
The network tab only shows media devices and net work Infrastructure, omits computer.

I have laptop and desktop both have latest win10 updates and only one shows computer under network tab.
I'm trying to share files between them through wifi network but the laptop doesn't show itself (computer) in
    network.

What can I do to fix this?
    Thanks,
    Keith

Have you been using home group as that's now gone. Can you ping PC's by IP or name?

Yes I know, maybe I did not make clear that on the laptop under network tab the computer section DNE. Where on the desktop I see the desktop in network, and directories there in that have been shared.
The laptop does not contain a computer section in network (not even itself).

    Hey klong815,
On both PC's ... check the following two windows services an make sure they are running. If they are running try restarting both of them and it can take a minute for PC's to show in File Explorer > Network

Function Discovery Provider Host - Running | Startup Type set to Automatic Delay
Function Discovery Resource Publication - Running | Startup Type set to Automatic Delay

    Hi,
    Yes,
    Function Discovery Resource Publication (services)
was not running nor was it automatic.

Now they are both running and automatic, however; the PC's don't see one another.
I looked on line to find a blog to make Computer Browser browser automatic as well but I still only see the local machine

    Resolved

    Hi,
Thanks for your help, I also followed the first networking tutorial listed on this site to rename one of the laptops. They are both laptops actually but one is always on the desk.
They were named the same, I changed one laptops name and now see both pc's from either device.
    Thanks,
    Keith
