    WAP viewing settings

I created WAP from an old belkin router and it works fine.

i want to change the SSID of this Ď WAPí canít remember how to do this...I changed the I.P address to 192.168.1.100 as per the conversion procedure.....this was setup for a friend, is it possible that I canít access it as the friends router and mine have a different range ?

or is there a way I can do it ?

i lugged it into my laptop, but couldnít access the WAP

    thanks

Plug your laptop into the belkin and reboot your laptop so it gets a new address from the Belkin.

    Then attempt to access.

Usually the router get the address 192.168.1.1

When you get access to router there will be a DCHP range. Lots start to hand out addresses at 100 or 10. If yours starts at 10 or 100 I would suggest it starts to hand out address at 101.

The SSID will be on the wireless page.

Which router is this, we should be able to find the actual manual online and get exact tabs.

Thanks. Do you still have setup CD?

    here is link to manual.

    https://www.belkin.com/us/search?text=F5D8636

    Things we discussed are within.

If you look at page 29 you see under Lan setup the DHCP range. I wouldn't have router in range. Under heading Wireless is SSID.

The easiest way to get everything back to way it was is to reset. It will take default ip range.

The CD looks good as well as you can assign SSID.

    Cool.

If you want separate range I would still set router back to 1.

    Maybe 192.168.100.1

and start DCHP addresses at 100.

By leaving some unassigned you can use some static addresses for specific gear like solar data loggers or printers or what ever.

Restarted the laptop, made no difference tried all the suggested I.P addresses......

donít see why....donít suppose there is a way of finding out the I.P. Address of the WAP in case I remembered it wrong ?....donít want to reset it really, it does work as a WAP with MY router and my friends....so,itís configured ok, just need to access it to change the SSID.....canít be that difficult can it ?

    thanks
