If you plug pc into the router and remove all other connections then from a cmd prompt type

    ipconfig/all

the default gateway and dhcp server is the ip of the router

Are you trying to set this device up to extend your network to your friend and provide him with a private set of IP's?

How have you connected your router to his router?

Actually the 169 tells you the PC could not get a valid IP.

I don't understand what is connected to what but if you are not getting an IP then the DHCP services are disabled in router.

Not sure which router you assigned this responsibility too.

You said, if I recall you were using 192.168.1.100

So you could try setting a static IP on your computer of 192.168.1.110.
