Can switching networks damage/wear out my wifi card?

I have this stupid wifi that likes to randomly disconnect and do random things. There are 2 networks, one is 2.4ghz and the other is 5ghz. I switch between the 2 because sometimes one doesnt have internet access randomly, but the other one does. I do this multiple times a day. I'm switching internet providers soon. It happens for all devices, not just my laptop.

So, I'm wondering, with all this wifi switching, will it somehow "potentially" damage my hardware?

No, it wil not cause any problem. I do it all the time as well. No different than having multiple devices accessing the two bands simultaneously really.

    Hi.

This is just from my best guess (which, in a way, makes sense):

So you're switching between two networks. That's using the WiFi power on the card to wirelessly connect to a network. It's using the internet to do that. It's using the network speed to do that. Yet keep note at how fast you are downloading other data from the internet when you're using the internet (say downloading a big file at 1 MB per second). That "activity" is putting a lot more non-damaging stress on that card compared to small amounts of data trying to connect to a different network many times a day.

Yet this is what I believe. And since you said that you're switching providers soon, you shouldn't worry about it at all.

Switching WiFi bands won't damage your hardware any more than switching between AM and FM damages your radio.

It sounds like your WiFi router is the problem, not the ISP (unless your ISP gave you the router).

You might also consider where your router is located. Ideally it is center of house. ( I know, hard to achieve )

Normally it can be found where service enters house and tech has to do zero work, like the basement at the far end.

It is also not located right by other sources of interference.

No it will not. You will wear out your touchpad or mouse before the network adapter goes.
