But guess what? I tried again accessing, and all of a sudden it works! Couldn't connect for 2 weeks, didn't change anything, and all of a sudden it works! Fingers crossed!

I have already given you two options to try and figure it out. The other is to press the reset button on the back to do the non-destructive reset for the network settings only on the device. Unless you have had the IP scheme change on your router, your NAS will not change the IP, unless the lease is reset and it is forced to grab a new IP from the Router. Use the assistant or the Internet portal for the NAS at synology.me to reset your local IP to a Static IP for your network, so that you can always find the NAS on your network, without worrying about it losing its lease.

It does not need that with the Synology NAS devices. Synology has not used SMB 1 for a long time.

As I said, it is working now, out of the blue.

I checked anyway: yes SMB client is on

DS116 showing in Windows 10 network within File Explorer

Hi, I've had this issue for a while but have found a solution. I have a DS116. Open the Synology Control Panel and select File Services. Select SMB/AFP/NFS menu. Enable SMB Service. Enter your workgroup name - maybe 'Home' if Windows. Go back to File Services and select Advanced. Go to WS-Discovery and SSDP and enable Windows Network. This worked for me.
