    Windows 10 a major FAIL

    Now they have removed Homegroup...

Windows 10 has become a major fail in my opinion. Printer drivers don't work, can't set up your network, have to share individual files only. Edge is a mess..

Every time they do an update, something else is removed, and it doesn't work. I don't care what anyone says, but I can not recommend Windows 10 to anyone. It has turned into the worst change since, I don't even know since when. AND THE BIGGEST PROBLEM... THEY CHANGE IT WITHOUT TELLING ANYONE. One day it is just no longer operational.

    What a tragedy.

They told everyone back in February.

HomeGroup will be removed in the next feature update for Windows 10...

HomeGroup to be removed ? Solved - Windows 10 Forums

Homegroup has been problematic since its launch in Windows 7, unlike Workgroup sharing that has worked reliably since it was launched in 'Windows for Workgroups 3.1' back in 1992.

Actually, they told Insiders in December last year....
....with today’s build you’ll start to see us retire the HomeGroup service.

HomeGroup was merely one way to set up a network.

You can set up a network using a Windows' WorkGroup and it will be no less capable than one set up using HomeGroup. See
    How to Change Workgroup
    Set Network Location to Private
Share Files and Folders Over a Network in Windows 10
and, for other network guidance, see the Tutorial index networking section.

I don't know what the big deal was about Homegroup I never ever used it, Map a drive and your done or just create a shortcut "\\192.168.0.10\" give it a name done.

No need to click on some wizard and go threw a bunch of screens only to find that it does not work half the time, Good riddance.

Good riddance to Homegroups - they never even worked properly half the time.

I stopped using them back in Windows 7/8 days.

And in the spirit of the theme of this thread, there is an announcement in the IP/Insider Preview version that the Snipping Tool will be removed in the near future, probably the next Version Upgrade, but there will be a replacement for it.

Good. It was far too complicated for me in the first place - I always just did \\PC\Share. Why anyone used it escapes me.

I'd be annoyed if they remove the snipping tool like @Berton said above though as I'd have to learn something new. Mind you they did say they would cancel File History and replace it with TimeLine but (thankfully) they seem to have forgotten.

Windows 10 is finally getting an improved screenshot tool

Goodbye Snipping Tool Hello Screen Sketch
by Martin Brinkmann on July 01, 2018 in Windows - Last Update: July 01, 2018
Windows 10 users who run a beta version of the upcoming next feature update of Windows 10, Windows 10 version 1809, get a deprecation notification when they open the Snipping Tool on the system.

The Snipping Tool is a screen capturing utility that users may use to take fullscreen, window, rectangular, or free form screenshots. It is built-in which means that it is available right away as one the many tools that Windows ships with.

The message reads: Just a heads up ... Snipping Tool will be removed in a future update. Try improved features and snip like usual with Screen Sketch.

I'll be trying the new replacement as time provides but the fall-back will be MSPaint/Paint still in Start, W section, Windows Accessories. Now that I will sorely miss, may have to go further back to Paint Shop Pro. Even more distressing is the Notebooks that are starting to lose the PrntScrn key or making it harder to use such as using a key combination to get it.

It does mildly annoy me how they make things more difficult. I use snipping tool, delay 5 seconds, save the capture to my desktop, open Paint, delete my personal information, add arrows etc and upload to the forum here.

I see some people do fancy stuff like blurring but that is completely beyond me. The links from @sml156 seem a bit vague as to what it would do.

Perhaps I should install some software, IDK, but back to the subject of the thread, no, Windows 10 isn't a major fail - just lots of minor fails stacked up again and again to give the illusion that they really don't know what they are doing.
