Windows 10 needs a restart to make a network connection

Hi thereI am having a problem with my network connection. I am running Windows 10 PRO and recently installed the April 2018 Update. When I boot up my laptop, it doesn't make a network connection. I am using a wireless connection to my router. I then have to RESTART and then a connection is made ok. If I switch to Wi-fi there isn't a problem.I'm sure this problem only occurred after the update.Any advice would be greatfully receivedMartyn

    Hi there

Sorry my first statement may not be clear. If I used a wired connection to my router then I always have to restart my PC after the initial boot up to get a network connection. If I disconnect the network cable and switch on Wi-Fi then I connect everytime. Using Wi-Fi is not a problem as I am very close to the router but I would prefer to use a wired connection.

Setting a fixed ip should solve this dhcp is slow for some reason. If you dont know the numbers to enter when its working open a cmd prompt type

    ipconfig /all

post results and we can give you the settings
