windows 10 can not see other computers and shares on network

    Hello,

i have a problem with my computer. I have Asus RT-AC87U AC2400 Gigabit Wireless router. I have a seagate free agent drive connected to router and shared it with samba/cifs protocol. My computer is connected to router trought cable over one switch. Problem is that i can not see other computers or samba shared drive over router in network places in windows 10 pro. I found that two services was stopped so i started them and set to automatic start. Now i can see my computer but not others. Others can see my computer.

    Thanks for reply.

What version of Windows are you using from a cmd prompt type winver. Can you ping others by name or IP?

windows 10 can not see other computers and shares on network-snimka.png

I can scan network using a advanced ip scanner and ping ip adresses. I tried ping router at 192.68.0.1 and passed.

On the Router USB Share Drive...
As long as you can manually access it using \\ShareDrive\ShareName or \\IPADDRESS\ShareName then you should be able to map it as a network drive. Map Network Drive in Windows 10 | Windows 10 Tutorials

Otherwise, you're going to have re-install SMBv1 (Client & Server) to get it to show in File Explorer > Network. Enable or Disable SMB1 File Sharing Protocol in Windows | Windows 10 Tutorials

    Edit: Option #3

BTW... IF all the PC's on your network are Win10 (1803), I'm assuming you checked the two Function Discovery services on the other PC's to make sure they are running and startup type Automatic Delayed. It can take a couple minutes for the PC's to show up

Note: I've noticed that Automatic Delayed is better for those 2 services, but have no reason as to why.

Some of us have non-windows devices on our network that only support SMB1. I have a router that can share an HDD plugged into its usb socket and a TV I can cast to, for example. Both are SMB1 only, so I have to have it enabled in Windows.

Now you are sorted, you can mark this thread as 'solved'.
