Strange Download speed on Intel Wifi Ac 3165

    Network is setup as following

ADSL Modem Sagecomm 2704N (DNS Host) (SSID: Wifi) ----- Router Dual Band wireless N (Openwrt Installed) (SSID : OpenWrt 2.4Ghz and OpenWrt 5 Ghz) .

Internet was down for a few days due to an issue with the copper wire, it was restored yesterday. Connection is 20mbps.

If I connect through Ethernet, I get full 20mbps download speed as verified by Task Manger in all my application such as Internet download manager, but if connect through Wifi, maximum download is 5.4 mbps. If I switch to Openwrt (any of two, 2.4ghz and 5ghz) the speed increases to 20mbps. This is also true if I switch from Openwrt to Wifi.

The arrow shows the point when I switched the SSID.

This is not the case on my other devices including second laptop and Smartphones. Speed test on those devices shows 20mbps.

OpenWRT on any Gateway is going to manage the wireless radio better than the manufacturer installed firmware.

No both are acting similarly, if I switch from one to other the speed increases from 5.5 to full 20mbps.

Again, OpenWRT manages the wireless chipset better, so you will see better speeds. Mark as solved, since you have no issue if you are using the third party firmware on your own Access Point.

This happen with both SSIDs routers and Modem's.

If you are getting better speeds with the OpenWRT firmware, there is nothing wrong. Close this as solved.

That is not the case, there are two devices Sagecom modem and Tplink router. I get the same speed wtih both i.e 5.5 mbps initially which increases to 20mbps if I switch between the two SSID. The case is same for both direcion i.e if I switch from WIfi to Openwrt or From Openwrt to WIfi.

The correct scenario should could be 1.start download 2. Speed increases to 20mbps without switching between the 2 SSID.
