    Can't connect to other PC

Both PC's appear in the network but I can't connect to it on one PC but I can connect with it in my other PC. The settings for sharing are exactly the same on both PCs. Everything I have read so far and it's a lot, I've tried. HElP!

    VietVet,

I had what seems to be the same problem recently [a one-way access problem on just one computer on the network]. I found that, quite inexplicably, some settings had become changed on that problem computer & other settings on one or more of the others.

1 Check on every computer in Control panel, Network & sharing centre that it is connected to the network & that the network is correctly shown as a Private network.

2 Check on every computer that the network is set as Private Discoverable - you will need to set UAC to its second highest setting not the highest one to be able to see the Public/Private Discoverable entry in Settings, Network, WiFi, Manage known networks.
    - You can put UAC back to its highest setting afterwards, the change is only needed temporarily to allow the check to be done.
    - This item is now a direct choice between Public & Private rather than between Discoverable on or off. Whilst it amounts to the same thing, I think the new version is much more readily understandable & therefore much better.

3 Check on every computer that Control panel, Network & sharing centre, advanced sharing options include
Private network - network discovery on with automatic setup of devices & with File & printer sharing turned on
    and that
All networks - password-protected sharing turned on.
Incidentally, I found that these had been turned off for my Private network but the problem had been partially masked by the fact that they had incorrectly been set on for Guest/Public networks {I never figured out how these changes had come about}.

4 I went on to check that every shared folder was still set as shared but found no problems there.

After changing these settings back to what they had originally been, the problem was solved.

I appreciate that you have checked many of these items already but your symptoms do match what happened to me.

    Best of luck,
    Denis
