Manage cellular connections - choose roaming operator

    Hi
Is there any way to manage cellular connections (mobile broadband) better in Windows 10? I would like to be able to see available operators and choose to which to connect. Maybe there is an app that gives you that level of control?
    Thanks for any suggestions.

It will only connect to those providers that your carrier has a Roaming Agreement at no cost, or a cost if no agreement, as long as it is a Cellular radio that is the correct frequency and either TDMA/GSM/LTE or CDMA/LTE. depending on the cellular card in your laptop.

Thanks for your reply @bro67. But I am looking to control which operator it connects to. I live on a country border and often have to cross for work. The Windows connection manager tends to connect to my home network, even when the signal is very bad. I want to be able to force it to roam and connect to a better signal.

You cannot control what operators the card will connect to, unless you use a different SIM card and the Cellular radio is unlocked to allow you to use different carrier SIM cards. The reason that you do not want the card to just start connecting to any cellular tower, is because if you are on a country boarder, you could get hit with massive roaming charges.

@bro67 In the European Union there are no roaming charges. A SIM card will only connect to operators with which the SIM card operator has agreements. On any phone you can adjust manually what operator you want to connect to (if there is more than one is available and is contractually eligible). So, all I am asking to do on the PC is the same as you can do on a phone.

You cannot force the computer to decide which provider to connect to, since it is dependent on the SIM, card firmware and software.

@bro67: this is not correct. I've now partially solved the problem by installing Lenovo's Access Connections Window 7 software which runs so-so on Windows 10. As you can see, this shows me all available operators and I can try and connect to them by double clicking. It will only effectively connect to those operators my home network permits.

It would be great if something like this were available for Windows 10.
