I connect to my laptops shard hostednetwork but I can't get Internet?

I can connect OK to it and have set the right password OK, but it says , "No internet access".

Do I have to set the IP address and DNS manually?
How do I know whats the right IP address etc ?

Are you using internet sharing connections? When you setup ics it should then setup a DHCP server so you get an IP from it. You need an IP in the same range and subnet as the pc default gateway is IP of pc and DNS 1.1.1.1

I think it did say something like 192.168.137.x
So, basically I do have to enter a specific IP address for my desktop.
And 1.1.1.1 - what does that DNS address mean? I had the Google DNS in there, 8.8.4.4.

That's not a normal IP it's normally 192.168.1.? But you do need to be in the same range from a cmd prompt type ipconfig /all that will give you the IP. You can use Google DNS but it may be slower
