    Missing connection in "Network Connections"

Have a plain vanilla Windows 10 desktop, upgraded from 8.1
Fake Microsoft tech got in and screwed things up.
Owner pulled the plug before too much was done.
Got it cleaned up but lost the Network Connection.
Device Manager shows Adapter "Realtec PCIe FE Family Controller"
Windows is still setting up Class configuration for this device (Code 56)
No VPN or anything similar. Removed the adapter and rebooted, same thing.

Is there an image backup that can be restored? Or a recent (before Fake Tech) Restore Point?

    Tried System Restore. That failed.
    Owner has no image backup.
Trying to avoid a Reset or Inst/Repair.
Lots of programs and I don't think he has any downloads, product keys, etc

The repair install will not destroy anything. Keeps all the app/progs and your settings.

Don't know why I was thinking it lost all the programs.
    Think Brink will forgive me?
Will do the I/R and post back.

Strongly recommend after the system is repaired and running right, to do a system backup, and maintain the backup plan.

    This is a customer's PC.
If I had worked on it before, it would have had all the backups needed and a backup plan with scheduling.
Thanks to you guys going way back for helping with these issues.Go way back to the original sevenforums. Actually, 5/6/2009

    Quick question.
Before I do an I/R, I always like to have the MS product key.
I use produkey which seems to work best.
Since there are 2 keys, which one is the original?
Windows (BIOS OEM key) ----- -----
    Windows 10 Home ----- -----
If I remember, the Windows 10 Home is the generic key???
