Nearby Sharing? Bluetooth? Wifi? One device is ok, other not so much..

Anyone use this feature? From what I gather it can use wifi or bluetooth, defaults to wifi as its faster, but still uses bluetooth for device discovery?

Im at a loss, my main pc can see my backup, and share to it. My backup cannot see the main pc with modern sharing however.

Very odd, curious if anyone has any suggestions or is more familair with how it functions? Otherwise im gonna shell out a few bucks for a new(er) bluetooth adapter and cross my fingers. My main pc that can see and share to np, has an integrated bluetooth (maximus x formula) so i imagine its about as up to date as they come at current.

My backup pc is using the Asus BT400 usb adapter which already crashes my pc if i try to disable it, so im beginning to wonder if it or its drivers are part of the problem....

Google hasnt been helpful on this one ><

You can pair the devices first, then just share any file that you want (for bluetooth). But I wouldn't really rely on bluetooth for file sharing other than using headphones in my opinion

Nearby Sharing doesn't work on my PC's (see specs) and it appears it's because the bluetooth adapter on my laptop doesn't support Low Energy

I'm hoping this is the case/your on to something. Looking at the specs for the BT400 it says it supports bluetooth low energy but im hoping its a driver issue. As i said it crashes my pc when I try to toggle it off. Not my install as I did a clean install thinking that would fix it - and it did not. Started with RS3 iirc.

Its old and drivers havent been pushed out in quite some time. Probably wont ever be so I guess buying a new one is my only option. They are cheap to test it and I guess ill have a spare if it doesnt help :P

Only part that has me on the fence is that it can receive files and be "seen" by my main pc just fine. It just cant see or send TO the main machine. But perhaps its receiving it via wifi and it can be "seen" by the main pc due to the main pc's bluetooth working properly.

Thats what Ill go with for now :P lol. I'll post back when I get a new adapter.

Any recommendations? Need a cheap USB one. FIgured I couldnt go wrong with the Asus but guess I was incorrect. Potentially.

Thanks for the replies guys <3

I have two motile laptops and nearby sharing is only using bluetooth ;(. so slow. I don't know how to get it to use wifi ad hoc for much faster speed.
