    desktop lost its network mind

File Explorer on my desktop cannot see any network computers.
FE can see other devices - media
My NAS is a computer and a media device so it sees the media but not the NAS.
Other computers see everything including the desktop - and can open them.
I toggled Network Discovery - no help, but now FE is showing only media devices and printers with no headings.

If I type in the \\NAS.......it will open the NAS or computer.

It has been working, what changed?

Have you been using homegroups as it has been removed in the latest version. Can you ping others by IP and name ok?

You need to set two services to automatic (delayed start):

    Function Discovery Provider Host
    Function Discovery Resource Publication

Right click Start, click on Run towards the bottom. Type services.msc in the Run box and press enter to open the Services List. Scroll down until you find those two. Set them to automatic (delayed start). Then right click and start them both. That PC will now show up. Do this on each of your PC. Then your network will display as you like.

Go to Settings/Network and Internet/Change connection properties. Make sure it is set Private and not Public Go to Networking and Sharing/Change Advanced Sharing settings. Make sure Network Discovery and File and Print sharing are checked. Under All Networks, Turn on Public folder sharing, you can also turn off Password Protecting sharing if you like.
If that hasn't changed, then press the Win Key+R in the Run Box type netplwiz and press enter. Even though you may not use it, Highlight the Guest account and reset the password, you can reset it to Blank if you like.
I have found that FE takes a long time to discover a network file share, so I just type in the search, Run, or Address bar \\[ComputerName] If you like you can Map your Nas or other Network drive for quick access.

    On my desktop:
FDPH is in manual mode but running -- it doesn't see others
FDRP is in manual mode and not running -- but laptop see it just fine.

    On my laptop:
FDPH is in manual mode and not running -- but it sees the both desktops and can log in
FDRP is in manual mode and not running -- others don't see it

    on my other desktop:
FDPH is in manual mode but running -- It doesn't see others
FDRP is in manual mode and not running -- but laptop see it just fine.

    Changed - perfect - thanks
I assume this was another M$ Easter Egg from an update to help me pull the rest of my hair out since it previously worked fine.

Thanks Spunk - I will save your reply for the next Windoz update. M$ will surely use that Egg at some point.
