Windows Forgets Network Type after Router Reboot

I have set my router to reboot nightly. I do this to kick off all VPN users and force them to reconnect in the morning. Not important why here...there are work reasons.

Whenever the router reboots, my internal (and external VPN) computers will still connect with the same network settings, but they reset the network type to Public. Also, the network name will have an added factor (DSB_2.4 becomes DSB_2.4 1, then DSB_2.4 2, DSB_2.4 3, DSB_2.4 4, etc.).

Is this normal? Is there a way to force the "NEW" network (after router reboot) to be seen as the "OLD" and maintain a private status?

Stop having your Gateway reboot every night. No wonder why you are having problems. Most likely your VPN connections are the problem and doing a reboot of your connection is causing them to show other problems. There is no need to reboot your connection anymore with modern hardware.

Depending on you service the ISP can often see a constant reboot as a fault and reduce your speed to try and get a stable connection the dslam will do this automatically

Logical conclusions...so a little more info. The VPN is to/on an internal network of which there are a few behind the gateway. The gateway never/rarely goes down. The internal networks are separated for security reasons. This problem has not always existed - it only started in April. Why the change? I cannot find a reason (software upgrade? hardware upgrade? new vpn/network client ? looking for reasons around that time - or any other time).

I appreciate your insights. Please keep your thoughts coming.
