    Cannot access \\server

We have several Win 7 laptops which connect to our Win 7 Desktop (Server) and one Win 10 laptop that has never been able to connect to it.
Attempting to "Map a network drive" or "Add a network location," the Win 10 laptop sees the server but cannot access it, giving the 0x80070035 error (running Scottie's LAN Scanner also sees the Server).
The entire network is shared, and with the exception of the Win 10 laptop, all of the Win 7 machines can see all folders in the Win 7 server, but cannot access the Win 10 machine, nor can the Win 10 machine access the server or any of the Win 7 machines.

We've tried it both ways, IP address and DNS. Neither has worked. We've also been through the routine in the link you posted.

How are they networked? Homegroup or Workgroup? Starting with Windows 10 version 1803 Homegroup has been removed.

A note about HomeGroup: ...with today’s build you’ll start to see us retire the HomeGroup service. HomeGroup was terrific for the pre-cloud and pre-mobile era, but today this functionality is built right into Windows 10 and apps. Starting with this build, the HomeGroup service is no longer operational in Windows 10...

    Tipiford,

This will help you get connected. If you have Win 10 v1803, there is an issues connecting PC's on Network.
First you will have to make sure they are discoverable and set for sharing.
Then once discovered in Network Folder, if you can not connect, you need to create shortcuts using \\PC IP ADRESS as the normal \\PC HOST NAME is broken.

This link will get you connected and sharing.

Due to many changes in the networking systems used on Windows 10 there is a known issue with an essential service or two (depends on system so best to address both)

The services Function Discovery Provider Host and Function Discovery Resource Publication need to be set to Automatic (Delayed Start), on all Windows 10 systems and the system restarted (or manually start the services )

The issue with Windows 7 to windows 10 connections is more complex due to the (panic) actions to control the Wannacry Ransomware last year. This would have, if you used the Microsoft fix , have disabled the SMBv1 Protocol that may be required to complete network connections. (it is required by the old Computer Browser Service from Windows NT that has been in use until this recent issue),

This is especially true to many Linux systems that still use the depreciated SMBv1 protocol, and is also used in embedded linux used in NAS, TV, Media Players Etc. and some old Windows Setups

SMBv1 has to be enabled using Powershell scripts on Windows 7 (Enable or Disable SMB1 File Sharing Protocol in Windows | Windows 10 Tutorials) In 8.1 and Windows 10 it is available in Add and Remove Features

As this is vulnerable to the exploit used by Wannacry you must be sure that the MS Patches are applied and if possible a good fully updated anti ransomware system is in place before re-enabling the

Function Discovery Provider Host and Function Discovery Resource Publication will only discover the devices. It will not fix it for non connection issues.

First of all HomeGroup and Workgroup have no relation.
Workgroup is if you have a normal network. If it is not Workgroup, it would be a DOMAIN for like hosting your own website or on a business network.

Many people will still have issues with their printers wired or wireless. You might have to spend some extra time messing with it and maybe will not get them fixed or working. Same with sound recording and webcams and cameras.

I work on about 80 PC's a month and 20 networks for Home and businesses.

And rebooting your modem and restarting all PC's and devices can do wonders.

    Workgroup.

As to Windows 10 and v1803 connection issues, is this what that is since I can see the server, but cannot connect to its shares?
