    That's it. Disabling IPV6 on all the adapters allowed me to communicate!
    Seriously thank you so much everyone, there is no way I would have figured that out by myself. Not this year, anyway.

    i hate these solutions that, upon hindsight, make 'sense', but who ever would've thought of that in the first place? i mean kudos to them. but still, all the intricacies, etc... seems there outta be a much simpler way to do all this stuff?

    Figure I should add this here and it's just an FYI ... MS recommends doing the registry edit to Prefer IPv4 over IPv6 vs disabling IPv6 - https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/...advanced-users

    1. Re-enable IPv6 in your adapter properties
    2. Do the registry edit for Prefer IPv4 over IPv6 ONLY
    3. Reboot PC

    Note: I did the above on my PC's and share access is still working when using \\PCNAME ... (i.e. no intermittent share access issues/path not found).
