    @f14tomcat ... FYI on disabling IPv6

I ran across this a few mins ago - https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/...advanced-users

I did the following on both PC's and share access is still working when using \\PCNAME ... (ie no intermittent share access issues/path not found).

    1. I re-enabled IPv6 in my wireless adapter properities
    2. Did registry edit manually, only the Prefer IPv4 over IPv6 (Use Registry key to configure IPv6 section)
    3. Rebooted both PC's

Note: Before I did the above, I re-enabled IPv6 on both PC's and without even rebooting, they immediately started getting path not found on share access by \\PCNAME

    Hi Caledon Ken,

I think that a repair install might be the only solution but I have had a look at the instructions and feel that it is more than I wish to do at the moment. If I need to move files, I can always do this from my second PC.

Thank you very much for all the time and effort you have put into this matter (thanks to all the other posters as well). I really do appreciate it.

Thanks a lot, @Eagle51 !! I remember those DL files from the old days of good 'ole Mr. Fixit. I will definitely do this....after the wife finishes scouring the net for coupons. I know better!

Penbwlch did you try @eagle 51's solution?

MS has provided the files so should be a quick test. (In Eagle51's link)

    Ouch.

The inplace repair is very easy. You create usb key with Media creation Tool, navigate to key and type setup.

I suggest the backup just in case.

    Your call of course.

I think I will leave it and work around the problem, thank you. I use my PC for lots of different things and the link states that Apps have to be reinstalled. That, for me, would be a lot of hassle.

If you reset or refresh but not the inplace. Of course you do have to click on keep files and apps.

I just reread, can you steer me to comment. If I'm giving out wrong info I would like to correct that. Thanks.

    Hi Caledon Ken,

No it is me that was wrong. I re-checked for what I thought I had read and it was not there. You are right, so I am currently giving it a try. I will let you know the result.
