    The workgroup will not change.

I just attempted to share a full drive using the Wizard. I had to go to customize permissions and then after allowing all on sharing, I had to click on the security tab and do it there as well. Once I did all this my drive was available on my other PC.

You're welcome. This has to be a bug in the 1803 update. There is absolutely no reason for it to fail if shared through the Computer Management Share Wizard.

Ok. Good luck! I have tested with other folders on this PC using the wizard and it works after I set the sharing and security tabs from within the wizard itself when I click customize permissions. If you only need read access over the network you will still need to do this as you are sharing a DRIVE. It will not have the correct permissions until you apply them within the wizard.

EDIT: I just read back and noticed you have Windows Firewall Control installed. You need to make sure you have the recommended rules in WFC or sharing will fail at every attempt. Also if you have Secure Rules active, any attempt through the sharing wizard will fail as it cannot set the rules needed.

    Good morning!

Seems there has been some progress here. :)

Yep, firewall was my next question. Since you can not access your computer at all, it seems you have some ports closed.

Open up the required ports for File and Printer sharing.

    UPDATE
At this point all 4 computers on line. Only the Dell laptop fails with no permission to access. It is a Dell screw up but, we know Dell does it's own thing.
The only thing new is that passwords are needed. As I have never use passwords, I can either adjust to passwords, find a workaround or stop trying to share.

Time to bug Dell about this.

    No ports are blocked

I am happy to get to this point.

I GIVE UP. The thing works once, go back ten minutes later and no go. From a desktop same thing with the password stuff., once not needed the next time needed. This is the deepest I have gotten into this crap and now I know, it will never work for me. I even did a repair install on a desktop & the Dell, same shit.

Been a blast !!!! Too old for this shit
