That tutorial is great and used to work, doesn't any more. Microsoft broke sharing and until they fix it there is nothing we, as users, can do to fix it.

Why they don't acknowledge they broke it and give us a clue when it will be fixed I don't understand.

........ and THAT is why I went back to 1709 and REFUSE to upgrade to this stinking pile of bytes anytime soon !!!

What I may have done different to solve

    Beerlord said:
When my problems, or challenge first started, I found a little program that sniff's IP address and is very simple. Once it finds the computers on the network, I can see, view and use programs just like I should via the normal network routines.
    Check it out.
Advanced IP Scanner - Download Free Network Scanner.
    - Windows 10 Pro 64 version 1803.
    1. Followed same steps as Beerlord previous post and posts by Access Denied - (BTW: Advance IP Scanner portable gave same error as described in Beerlord posts.)
    2. Also followed first section of Seahawks65 post #90 - Connecting PC 10 - Microsoft Community - but no success. However, a grand thanks to all contributors - would not have got this far without the many informed contributions.
3 Host files on all networked machines were edited in accordance with directives of previous posts - [IP address (at least one space between items) computer name] - this proved unnecessary because after I got access I change the name of one computer and I still have access. Though, take note - the following may or may not be critical - I don't have time to test otherwise: I have assign fixed IP addresses for all networked computer from my router.
    4. If all the above has been tried and it's a case of network drives and folders visible but access denied the following may - or may not - solve.
    5. Here's what proved to be my silver bullet - add the word - NETWORK - to a shared folder or drive security permissions.
    6. Properties >> Security >> Edit >> Add ..
    7. Computers can't see each other after upgrade to 1803-nw-1.png
    8. Computers can't see each other after upgrade to 1803-nw-2.png
    9. Remember to give permissions as required - see second image. (images upload straight from network folder)
    10. I did not not need to restart all computers but may be worth a try if no joy.
    10. All functions like copy, paste, move, edit are available direct at the network drive with the exception of saving a file created on the host computer to the networked computer.
    11. The above file saving issues solved using a mapped network drive - all other functions available through the mapped network drive.
    12. If this has been mentioned before I may have missed it - the permutations of settings for solution is, understated, lengthy.

    Update and further info

1, The above post refers to shared connection via Ethernet - no wireless shared.
    2. I added some shared wireless and the same holds.
    3. After all steps, as referenced above, have been taken and shared network is visible but not accessible the same silver bullet final solution applies.
    4. Add the word - NETWORK - to a shared folder or drive security permissions.
    5. Properties >> Security >> Edit >> Add .. (see above post for further details).
    6. In the above post all boxes running Win 10 Pro 64
    7. I have hot-swap drives and popped in Win 7 premium 64 and had no problems - suggest review previous post clauses 10. & 11.
    8. Though, remove the word - NETWORK - from a shared folder or drive security permissions and its a case of below

Just posting here to let everyone know that I eventually updated my host files as suggested after severals hours of fix and tweaks.
It is now working flawlessly thanks a lot !!!
    Using this thread.
I agree about steps 3 and 4 doing the trick. 3 was already set up as I always assign fixed IP to my desktop/nas (non mobile devices) from my router.
I don't have any antivirus who will try and change my host so for now it still works after reboot.
    let's hope.

I had also this error 0x80070035, my solution was this using the registry , check the keys in :
    [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Lsa\MSV1_0]
    “Auth132″=”IISSUBA”
    “NtlmMinClientSec”=dword:00000000
    “NtlmMinServerSec”=dword:00000000
    “RestrictReceivingNTLMTraffic”=dword:00000002
    “RestrictSendingNTLMTraffic”=dword:00000002

Delete the last 2 entries :
    “RestrictReceivingNTLMTraffic”=dword:00000002
    “RestrictSendingNTLMTraffic”=dword:00000002

this fixed my problem and now i can see the shares of my both PC’s

I am curious where you found this information because it worked for me when NOTHING else would.
