WiFi takes time to load from power on or sleep.

    Hello

When I turn on my computer from off or wake it up from sleep. My WiFi takes time for it to "connect". Afterwards, it works fine. Is there anything I can do to fix this.

    Thanks in advance

The wireless signal needs to be reestablished. There really isn't a faster way other than to hardware your PC.

But it never had to do this before. Just a couple of weeks ago. The connection used to instantly come on and I have never had to wait five minutes for a network connection to reestablish.

    Try this:
    1. Enter rel in the Cortana search box.
    2. When View reliability history appears in the search results, click on it.
    3. When the Reliability Monitor appears, use the left scroll arrow (shown as a) to scroll back to when the wifi adapter was working OK.
    4. Working forward, make a note of any pertinent entries (which may be failures or warnings but could also just be an automatic driver update) by clicking on each date when an icon appears.
    5. You can save a report (shown as b) as an XML file (and open/view it in Internet Explorer).

For example, my PC shows that ~3 weeks ago my PC was updated automatically to a new build (even though I had Windows Update disabled ).

    Hope this helps...

I had a look and found nothing that looked like a WiFi issue but it didn't go back very far.

    I have attached it anyway.

Download WiFi inspector. Xirrus Wi-Fi Inspector 2.0 Download - TechSpot This will show you your Wifi routers signal strength as well as any other WiFi networks in your area. It will also show you the Broadcast channel that your WiFi uses. If a couple people are using the same broadcast channel in your neighborhood, you can change it in your Router Setup to one that is not conflicting. The WiFi should then load faster then.

Your reliability log shows a large number of failures (i.e. marked in the log with an impact of 'critical'). Many of the failures relate to wireless networking, going back to 27th November last year. The 20th December looks particularly bad with wifi failing 5 times. More recently, your PC has started to not shut down properly.

Reliability Monitor just gives you an overview. Now you have a better idea of reliability, the problem points and the specific dates and times, I think it's time for you to use Event Viewer to see whether on the dates/times shown there are any reasons shown in the logs (especially System) for the failures.

It doesn't really matter if you work forwards or backwards... you're going to be trying to see whether there are any patterns, i.e. common causes. It looks like uninstalling/reinstalling the Intel wifi adapter may help but, personally, I would first try to determine why Windows itself is not shutting down properly.

In particular, I suggest you try to determine exactly what the hardware failure was on 30th Dec. 2017 at 23:26. This will probably show in the System log but, if you can't find it there, have a look in the Hardware Events log. (It's too early to make a guess but a damaged sector on your system drive could be a possible culprit for many of the symptoms your Reliability Monitor report shows.)

    Hope this helps...

Hello. I believe the reason my computer said that it didn't shut down properly was because my computer sometimes dies, without telling me I'm low on battery and sometimes it dies in sleep if one of my pets pulls out the charger overnight. Would that cause those issues?

Another thing, I'm not new to computers but I don't really know how to use Event Viewer, what should I be looking for? Thanks in advance and sorry for being a pain.

I will download the Inspector and have a look. Thanks for all the help everyone.

The Inspector told me that the WiFI had no problems and that was everything. I have updated my Intel Adapter and reinstalled it and it made no difference.

    Thanks in advance.

Have you tried different DNS address? If you haven't, try switching to OpenDNS or Google DNS in router settings.
    Open DNS address: 208.67.222.222
    secondary:208.67.220.220
    Google DNS: 8.8.8.8
    8.8.4.4
