    Networking problem

Just trying to set up a local network and going stupid !. I can not even ping anther puter. Using one on wan and one on lan for now.
I had Zone Alarm Free Firewall blocking port 137 and couldn't find where to change it, so went back to the Windows FW with Windows Firewall Control.
At this point I am not even sure if my TP-Link C7 is blocking it. I posted a question on their forum.
I changed to a private network
I set up a workgroup because that always worked in Win 7 and I want more control.
I have read where Windows 10 can be a bitch with networking so thought I would find out for my self. At this point I have
    to agree

Can someone point me in the right direction ?

    Thanks

Open up a Command Prompt and run net share.

You say one on wan and one on LAN explain if they are not on same IP range and subnet you won't connect

Sorry that should be one on lan & one one wlan. I have checked every damn setting more than once. Even checked adapters for Netbios over tcp use if router didn't do it. I updated the TP-Link c7 firmware and I think they fixed something. Of course they didn't say anything about port 137 but, it could be working with a quick test. Spent too much time ne it
yesterday and today so going to give up for now.

Netbios only works over SMBv1 , which Win10 turned off by default in FCU 1709 , see my post in your other Thread....

I have the C7 V2 and at least for the US Version the new Firmware now Supports SMB v2 unfortunately for those of us not in the US we don't have that Upgrade yet....

Once again. Open up a Command prompt and run net share. Also get rid of Zone Alarm. The Windows 10 built in firewall will run circles around Zone Alarm.
