Hmmm......updated the driver. Was online, went to go to another site and got the sorry, that ain't happening page. Went into the Device Manager...no adapter....Very poor connectivity...-huh.png

Rebooted, said it was there. Tried to log on using Chrome, sorry can't load that page. Check Your Firewall etc. Plugged it into the modem...no troubles at all....

I pulled the wifi card out and am using the USB dongle, so far no troubles. Just wondering if there is a way for me to uninstall all the drivers for the 3165 card? Don't know what our schedule looks like this week but if I get a chance I may run into Spokane and try to find a computer shop that has different one. May just go the easy route and search the internet....any particular one I should look for?

    Cute pup.

If you go into device manager and show hidden devices you should see the 3165 listed and you can remove.

I believe your modem is a modem router combo.

I just physically removed the wifi card. Still having problems. One of which was the USB dongle was set to turn off. Changed this setting...but without rebooting the laptop I still did not have any internet....

How old is your router? Not saying it is the problem but they do wear out. My Netgear r6300 would have constant drops on 2.4 band. Replaced router and that issue was fixed.

I knew something was wrong as I test speed while I was in room with router. I used speedtest.net, just the test, not any of the other crap that pops up. Was getting 15Mbps or less.

Interesting that your dongle also suffers outages.

You could also run, from command prompt(admin)

netsh wlan show all | clip

The | clip puts the output on the clipboard. Then open notepad and press crtl-V or paste.

This will show you what your dongle sees. By pasting in notepad you can save and look at report.

There does not seem to be any other networks in range.

Can you change the modem / router to channel 6. It does show a signal strength of 100% so that is good although not sure where you are in relationship to modem / router.

Notice that your USB dongle is capable of some impressive receive rates yet your modem / router maximum speed is 54Mbps, basically a G class radio.

Could you share what device you have as a modem? How is your internet provided, cable, cellular, etc?

Doug, If You have your own modem/router, you can check for a firmware update for your modem/router.
Centurylink uses DSL 2.4 GHz and their max speed is only 54Mbps.

Modem is a Zyxel C1100Z. ISP is Century Link. Slowest DSL they offer, 1.5MBPS. We live out in the country, every one has 5 acres. My neighbors network will often show up. CL knows of how overloaded the old copper system is, they are claiming that we will be on a fiber optic network by July 2018. But they also claimed that for January 2017. I am sitting about 20 feet from the modem, with 0 obstructions.
I switched i over to channel 6, no different.
Like I have mentioned, my old Linux machine has zero issues uploading images..and staying connected. Now I get a lot of DNS, server, that page is not available errors.
