@hsehestedt: You are correct! I collect them with joy and verve. If you follow my blog posts (formerly at Win10.guru, now at edtittel.com) I write about them as I find them, and then try to keep that coverage up-to-date.
    Thanks for noticing!

You can get rid of them by going to:

Control Panel > Network and Sharing Centre > Change Adapter Settings (on the left side of the window) > Right Click on your Ethernet / WiFi Adapter > Uncheck whichever ones you aren't using or don't want active.

If my theory's right, then your active internet connection (or whatever you use that adapter for), won't make use of them. Just remember you disabled them though, for future reference.

However, most programs you install that need them will usually reactivate them for you.

    Hence why this forum exists...
NOTE: YOU CAN'T UNCKECK ANYTHING THERE. THERE IS NO CHECKS OR CHECKMARKS TO UNCHECK. YOU NEED TO RE-ENTER THE RIGHT INFOMATION FOR PEOPLE THAT ARE TIRED OF WRONG INFORMATION! I'M TIRED OF IT TOO!

Now what I did to my miniports is I disabled them and restarted and they disappeared from the network adapters. If you need to see them you just go to to VIEW>>SHOW HIDDEN DEVICES and they will appear but greyed out. I was having daily trouble with losing wifi connection so I disabled all these WAN MiniPorts. My Internet is still working fine and all I use is Wifi is all. So all is not lost. Yet!
