Will old Office 2007 updates be available after support ends 10/10/17?

Microsoft support for Office 2007 ends on 10/10/17. They say that new updates, bug fixes, and security patches will end on that date.

Will old or existing updates (published before October, 2017) still be available through Windows Update after support ends?

I need to do a clean reinstall of Windows 10 and all of my existing programs (Office 2007, etc.), but I may not have time to do that until late October -- which will be after support ends for Office 2007.

If I run Windows Update after my reinstall in late October, will it still generate old updates and patches for Office 2007? Or, will I have to search and download them manually from the Microsoft Update Catalog?

    Thanks.

Yes, they should be, old updates are still available for some time after the end of extended support. Obviously this is the future and MS may have other ideas.

I just installed MS Office 2003 for a friend and there were a ton of updates for it. I went through Windows Update.

I was worried about this too, so I downloaded all the catalog patches for office 2007.
Last time I did this some years ago, I got a heap of .EXE files with an installer inside each KB FullFile package.
This time it was quite different - I got one folder per KB patch, each containing a single .CAB file
    e.g.
folder Security Update for Microsoft Office 2007 suites (KB2596650)

    contained this CAB file all-ieawsdc-x-none_724e0bda5052a709502837a58fb61bcfadecd2b2.cab

Does anyone know how to install these, say after a clean install assuming Microsoft has pulled the plug on Office 2007?
...or have I wasted both time and bandwidth (quite probably the latter)

    Spilly,

I assume you did as I did - ran this search to get a complete list of all Office 2007 updates in the Microsoft update catalog - http://catalog.update.microsoft.com/...?q=office+2007

You can just extract the contents of each cab file - within each folder, the cab file appears as a sub-folder so just look at that and drag its contents into the parent folder e.g.
Look in the cab file [subfolder] all-ieawsdc-x-none_724e0bda5052a709502837a58fb61bcfadecd2b2.cab and drag its contents into folder Security Update for Microsoft Office 2007 suites (KB2596650) and then delete the cab file if you want to save storage space.
The extracted files will generally be in pairs - an .msp file [Windows installer patch] which you double-click on to run the update & an xml file which you do not need to do anything with.

In some cases, the cab file contains other cab files but you should only need the [sub-]cab file for your language version.
    • The only awkward one I ever found was KB4011086 Security Update for Microsoft Office Outlook which required installation of both the individual file for my language version and the one labelled outlook-x-none.cab

I have done this will all my Office updates and have also shifted their names about, e.g. "KB2596650 Security Update for Microsoft Office 2007 suites", so that if I ever have to reinstall Office 2007 I can just sort them into numerical order in File explorer, install SP3 [which included all older Office 2007 updates] and then just plough through the rest in sequence.

    Hi,
Windows will install all updates to this date no matter when one installs an older office version.

No more updates past the support date will be offered
MS usually double takes on this policy if really bad vulnerabilities popup though.

One can midigate vonerablities by not using outlook... via email messages and attachments received from unknown senders.

I'd just stumbled upon Try3's posting in another thread very soon after posting my question
after several fruitless searches BEFORE I posted
Then I rushed around and couldn't find how to edit a post once you've committed it and left the thread for a while

Any links for the HowTo for that anywhere?
