Mine is Office 2013, for info, and for reasons of both cost and embuggerance I have no intention of upgrading unless forced so to do. I would have switched to Linux fifteen years ago but for the lack of a Linux version of Photoshop ((nothing else cuts it).

    Thanks for your reply.

    Hi there @PBPBPBPB

simply run photoshop in a Windows VM -- works fine if your Linux distro has a proper Video driver -- most do these days. That way you can keep old release of Windows and Office for as long as you wish.

I'm still using Office 2010 on a VM - no probs whatsoever with it.

    Cheers

I have just joined (March 2019) specifically to say THANK YOU for the info in this thread; "never in a kazillion years would I have guessed this to be the cause" sums it up perfectly! I was wading through all sorts of stuff about repairing PowerPoint online and reinstalling Windows, and this thread saved me from a huge amount of unnecessary pain - delete the God Mode link, who would have thought?!?
You're welcome. And thanks again to the original poster mentioned somewhere in first posts

Thanks, jimbo45; I have run Linux in VirtualBox on a Windows PC but not the other way round yet; not enough RAM.

I'm sorry if I'm missing the answer... I'm pretty new to Windows 10 Admin. I am supporting a user who is having this issue (hyperlinks crashing Word).
    • Is "Godmode" something that can be activated inadvertently?
    • I don't believe the user installed anything to enable "Godmode."
    • Where would I look to determine if she has activated it? How would I remove it?

There would be Control panel (shortcut) with strange name on desktop

OK. So, my user hasn't enabled GodMode, but is still experiencing crashes when inserting hyperlinks in Word. Any other ideas to resolve this?

Are you sure? Check, if she has desktop shortcuts hidden..

    Otherwise, I have no idea.

Office 365 here under Windows 10 x64 Pro 1809 (Non insiders).

I've got GodMode enabled and haven't had any crashing issue when inserting hyperlinks in any of the office applications I needed them in (Word, Outlook, OneNote, Excel). And I hyperlink all the time. In fact I just now tested PowerPoint and the hyperlink inserted without issue.

Anyway I find it odd having GodMode enabled would cause such issues, but...

    Peace:)
