office online or Libre office - which is better

My wife's W10 laptop has now closed its free time on word and requires her to purchase it.
I'm wondering which of the free ones would be best for her. She only tends to write up her CV and some report work on an occasional basis.
I've been wondering about Office on line or Libre office, does anyone have any comments on which one is better.
She has only ever used windows word before.

Looking for a steer on this.

    Many thanks.

Better is a relative term. Both of the options you asked about have their pros and cons. The major difference is that Libre is installed locally and available off-line while Office would only be available to use when she has an internet connection.

Libre is more fully featured than Office on-line but requires disk space to install. From your description, it sounds like Office on-line would be capable of doing what she needs to do.

Either would do the job so it's mostly a matter of her preference. My personal preference would be to have something installed locally and always available.

Thanks for the advice and explanation strollin.
Looks like I'll be going for Libre as she may not always have internet available when she is out and about..

To add, LibreOffice can work with many formats of files such as nearly all of Microsoft Office [Word, Excel, etc.] The only thing it doesn't include is an E-Mail Client [namely Outlook], not really a big problem as there's other solutions available. Since Microsoft Works was discontinued it can open those older files folks liked to use to save recipes.
