Have you tried running Word as administrator? Right-click the icon and select run as administrator. Does that make a difference?

    Best,
    Erik.

Hope your problem is solved by the above advice but if it is not, then it must be because of 3 reasons:
1.) Microsoft Word or Windows have updated automatically and is not compatible with the current version anymore.
2.) A Virus or any program is blocking Microsoft word
3.) The version of microsoft word is broken and need to be fix.
If you feel the problem is because of any of the above reasons. then may read this

Are you certain that there was not a trial version of Office bundled with your PC? I have seen others report a host of fault symptoms if they had installed another Office version without having uninstalled the trial version first.

If this is your situation then you could uninstall the new version, uninstall the trial version, re-install the new version. There is guidance at Manually uninstall Office - OfficeSupport
    - I would urge you to make a system image before starting to fix the problem so that you can at least get back to square one if it all gets nasty.
    - I have a vague memory that somebody said the job could be done much more easily by simply running a repair of your newer version instead but I can find no notes on that topic [Control panel, Programs & features, select the new version's entry, right-click, Change, Repair].
