I cannot email from MS Word or Excel 2010 = MAPI failure

This has happened after I upgraded to Windows 10. The help section tells me to associate Word & Excel with a mail program but doesn't tell me how to do that. I am using Windows 10 mail app. I know I can go into settings to associate files with programs but I don't know what files to associate with what program. I can't find another free email program that works well with Windows 10. Their own mail app has a lot of problems. Can anyone help me out?

As far as I know, the W10 Mail app does not support this function. You would need to use Outlook 2010 Mail which does support the MAPI protocol.

Thank you. Outlook did not come with the Home User version in 2010. Can you use it with Outlook on the Internet or with Windows Live Mail?

I have a feeling Windows Live Mail will work but I have not tried it myself.

Sorry for the delay. I have been in the hospital. First I followed the steps in the following article according to the mail app I am using. The new Windows mail app will not work with MS Office. You need a mail app that has MAPI. I'm using WIndows Live Mail because its free. Outlook did not come with the home version of Office 2010 that I have. http://www.ctimls.com/support/kb/error%20fixes/fix_mapi_error.htm
