Outlook 2016 not talking to Exchange 2010

    Hi There,

I'm trying to configure Outlook 2016 on Windows 10, connected to a local network. However if I auto set up Outlook it doesn't go through and comes up with
''the Microsoft exchange information service in your profile is missing required information. Modify your profile to ensure that you are using the correct Microsoft Exchange information service''.

I can ping the server and am getting information back but for some reason when in Outlook, even if I manually try and connect it just won't go through.

Any ideas, or any other forum posts with people having the same issue?

I had this issue and had to rollback to Outlook 2013 in my case (go back to the Office 2013 CD & just select the Outlook component)
IIRC I had to uninstall the Outlook 2016 else it didn't work (use the Office 2016 CD)
When you then insert the Office 2013 CD it knows what's missing and just initially selects Outlook
Unless you've got any influence over the Exchange baseline it's the only option
It's a compatibility issue with the Outlook client & Exchange server, it's not a WinX issue per se

Outlook 2016 uses autodiscover to connect to an Exchange server and I don't think you can set it up without. That is a change from previous versions. It needs to be set up on the Exchange side (AutoDiscover Service).
I believe this is just for new accounts though. Existing accounts should work regardless.

    Thanks for that guys,

How do you set it up on the Exchange side? I have access to the Exchange server but not sure how to configure it to connect in this way. I'm currently connected on another machine (win 7) running Outlook 2010 and picking up emails just fine. Is there something that needs to changed in Exchange specifically for Outlook 2016?

Have a look here for Exchange 2013: Autodiscover service for Exchange 2013
